Conducting better design critiques
With design teams I lead, I make sure we follow good process to achieve consistently good outcomes. One area I work with my teams to improve on are design reviews, a necessary and vital part of the design process. How you show up, ask for feedback, and give feedback is important. A poorly run design critique leads to bad and useless feedback. Well structured lead to good feedback and are immensely helpful.
Below is a presentation I’ve given many times on the subject. There are a few simple rules that help ensure you’re getting the most out of your design critiques:
🙋♂️ Roles - each participant has a specific responsibility and task to perform.
💡 Understanding - alignment on the problem to be solved is critical.
❤️ Respect - How we treat each other in critiques is so so important.
Let me know what you think about these guidelines.
